The Faves Playlist - Week of 2/9

New music from The Amazing, MX LONELY, N8NOFACE and more. Check out our faves below:

The Narcotix - The Sun

New York’s The Narcotix beam on their new art-rock single “The Sun.” The track is off their upcoming album Dying. Describing the album, the band writes, “We investigate themes of meditation, spiritual alchemy, and transmutation in our daily lives to address existential questions about the innermost self.” Dying is out on 3/1 and is available for pre-order on vinyl via Bandcamp.

John Glacier & Eartheater - Money Shows

London artist John Glacier has released her new single “Money Shows.” The track, she explains, is “about identities and running threads that never quite meet - different realities running at the same constant. it’s about showing up, but most importantly remembering to live.” On 2/23 John Glacier is releasing the EP Like A Ribbon via music and arts organization Young.

Dog Race - It’s the Squeeze

Fresh from signing with the Bristol indie Fascination Street Records, London’s Dog Race has released their new single “It’s The Squeeze.” On the track, the band faces internal conflict and contradiction. As the band explains, “The song is about a suffocating past relationship, and the pressure to ‘perform’ - both emotionally and physically. The production was influenced by German electronic and new wave artists from the 70s and 80s - the experimental synths of Kraftwerk, the operatic tones of Klaus Nomi, and the industrial gothic sound of Xmal Deutschland.” We can’t wait to see what’s next from Dog Race!

Stereobliss - Inbetween

LA shoegaze band Stereobliss has released their excellent debut EP Under the Orchids. On the opening track “Inbetween,” the band reflects on fate and free will. As band member Jaxon Toombs explains, “I wrote ‘Inbetween’ when I was nineteen. The song is basically just me coming to terms with my whining and complaining about issues in my control, but I didn’t always feel that way.”

Peony - Man II Uomo

UK alt-rock duo Peony confronts archaic ideas of manhood on “Man II Uomo.” About the song, Peony says “’Man il Uomo’ explores the impact of malignant masculinity on the family. Modulating between sincerity and satire it explores the tension between the destructiveness and appeal of traditional masculine ideals.” The track is off the band’s newly announced album Vast Animals.
