The Faves Playlist - Week of 2/2

New music from Nadezha, VTB, Poster Child and more. Check out our faves below:

Fleur Electra - Undercover

Dream pop songwriter/producer Fleur Electra taps into the harmful recurring patterns that we can get sucked into. "’Undercover’ speaks on the parts of a toxic relationship that keep you going back for more. It reflects on the cyclical comfort of it all and the darkness in empty words and promises,” Electra explains. “I was addicted to it in a sense, and I wanted this song to capture that feeling of being turned in circles over again." The track is off the Toronto artist’s debut album In My Room, which is out now.

Nieri - Spoiler Alert

LA-based Nieri gives in to electronic dance pop tendencies on his new single “Spoiler Alert.” The track is his take on the power of money and it’s impact on our personal relationships. As Nieri comments, "This song emerged from my desire to provide the life of their dreams for my partner. But money can be a sensitive subject, often entangled with control and dominance in relationships. I wanted to reshape this narrative, blurring the lines between true intentions and transactional gestures.” Nieri is currently working on a second EP.

Midnight Prisms - Spin Me Again

On her new single “Spin Me Again,” LA artist Midnight Prisms breaks from the chains. In an Instagram post, they explain, “It’s an anthem for anyone on a journey to freeing themselves from the patriarchal roles they’ve been conditioned to abide by in this society.” The synthpop track began as a poem back in 2019 and developed into a song over the years. This is Midnight Prisms’ first single since her 2022 album Astrology Songs.

Iron Years - Control

Darkwave Chicago band Iron Years has released their latest single “Control.” According to the band, “The song is about having the motivation to take control of your life. Take control by changing the things the are keeping you down. Finding the motivation to rise above the obstacles in your life. To make a decision to change things.” The song is off the band’s debut album Reverie which was released last year.

Reels - Been There

Florida garage rock band Reels has released their new EP Dog Years. The 5-track release was recorded live by Matt Horner. From the opening track “Been There,” there’s a palpable energy that the trio unleashes. Who knows what they’re singing about on “Been There,” but it sounds great.
