thistle. - it's nice to see you, stranger
UK nu-gazers thistle. has released their new single “it’s nice to see you, stranger.” The song is “about friendships that, in hindsight, felt forced or fleeting due to the circumstances—whether it was the environment or altered states I was in. At the time, they seemed to mean more to me than they did to them. It’s not necessarily a bad thing, just a realisation that time moves on, and so should I.” The track is their first on the indie Venn Records.
Pamphlets - Vanity
Brooklyn’s Pamphlets has announced a new project. On “Vanity” they bring the forceful energy the post-punk band is known for with a poignant analysis on adoration and self-obsession. The song is off their upcoming EP that is out on 6/6.
lozenge - Underbelly
“Underbelly” started with the chords, and then once we thought of the intro with the Prophet synth, it kind of all came together” says LA band lozenge. The opening synth line bleeds into a lofi guitar-washed soundscape. The band’s EP 1 is out 4/25 via Candlepin Records.
Homescreen - Statues
Brooklyn-based trip hop band Homescreen recently dropped their self-titled EP. On the meditative “Statues” the band explains that the song “like most of our music, was born out of a lengthy jam. Almost all of what you hear on the recorded version, including lyrics, were improvised then later honed in to honor what the song wanted to be. The intention behind the shift was to solidify motions we made during those first improvisation sessions. It’s sort of a journey of the soul, exiting the labyrinth/hades/winter, etc… and coming back into life.”
