NIIS - Lovesick
Los Angeles-based grunge band NIIS has signed to Get Better Records. On their debut label single “Lovesick,” the band moves between infatuation and indestructible strength. The band kicked off their west coast tour last night, playing shows along the way with The Blood Brothers, L7, Nekromantix, and more.
The Ark of Teeth - Love Is Hard
Describing his new album Untitled, The Ark of Teeth says, “Mostly, it’s about wanting to be an octopus.” The Ark of Teeth is the new project from Paris-based American artist Jordan Reyes. The horrific killing of Mary the Elephant in 1916 was also a reference point for the album. The album can be experienced as a full-length film shot on Super 8 and 16mm film.
King in Yellow - Lucid Dream
Kingston, NY post-punk band King in Yellow has shared their new EP Dark Passengers. The opening track “Lucid Dream” is a tribute to 80’s new wave and horror. As the band explains, they “wanted to write something that would have been on the A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors.” The 4-track release explores “themes of alienation, loss and the light that shines between the dark clouds.” King in Yellow is playing a show at Manhattan venue Berlin along with Turbo Goth and Jack Manley on 11/20.
Woof - Hunt
Chicago indie artist WOOF has dropped the single “Hunt.” “It's based on the intense emotions of survival and desire, capturing what it feels like to be on the run/hunt,” the artist explains. The song explores both sides of the chase over a post-punk soundtrack. This is the latest in a string of singles by WOOF.
The Smashing Times - Mrs Ladyships and the Cleanerhouse Boys
Indie pop band The Smashing Times has released their fifth album Mrs. Ladyships and the Cleanerhouse Boys. To promote the release, the Baltimore mod rockers will head overseas playing across the UK starting later this month. The album, from K records, can be purchased on vinyl via Bandcamp.
