Listen to music from Glassmanet, The Baxbys, Adam’5, Palejoy & The Only Objects.
Glassmanet - Floating On
Experimental dream pop project Glassmanet has released their new EP FLOW. The Oslo-based project started as a solo endeavor for audiovisual artist Glassmanet, before becoming a trio, alongside Hannah Mørtl and Embrik Berge. The opening song “Floating On” is perfectly embellished psych-pop. As Glassmanet explains, “‘Floating On’” was written about wanting to look ahead and move forwards, right before I ended up relocating from my hometown (in the depths of the ocean) to Oslo in January. Here I was lucky to meet my brilliant band mates Hannah Mørtl and Embrik Berge, which allowed Glassmanet to evolve into an even more inspiring and collaborative project developing the sound waves further.” FLOW is out now.
adam'5 - I Don’t Know Where I’m Going, But It Can’t Be As Bad As Where I’m At Right Now
On his third single French bedroom pop artist adam’5 looks ahead with optimism. As he explains, “[‘I Don’t Know Where I’m Going, But It Can’t Be As Bad As Where I’m At Right Now’] was written at a time when I felt everything was falling apart.” After reading an interview with Tyler, The Creator, Adam’5 felt reinvigorated enough to pursue music. The writer/producer will be releasing a 5-track EP titled PROLOGUE.
The Only Objects - Access Will Be Retained
Australian art-pop project The Only Objects is getting ready to release their second album An Excess of Hauntings. Their new single “Access Will Be Retained” was inspired by band member Patrick Lang’s encounter with the digital words on a sign during his drive home. Developing the song led to the way Lang envisioned the album. “After our last record, I was trying to reconcile what I saw as a contradictory impulse to write songs that were both personal and conceptual,” he says. “Until one day I realized that the contradiction is the point – the conceptual is personal, and vice versa. As the song developed, it ended up being a statement of intent for the whole album, which explores our obsession with promised lost futures that never arrived and surviving in permanent states of crisis.” An Excess of Hauntings is out next year.
Palejoy - I Bet Heaven Isn’t Real At All
Scottish post-hardcore/emo band Palejoy has released their new single “I Bet Heaven Isn’t Real At All.” The song was written after guitarist/vocalist Dale lost his grandfather. The themes of “sadness, anger and self-loathing” are underscored by distorted guitars and thunderous drums. Palejoy has already sold out their own headline show and we couldn’t be more excited to see what’s next for the band!
The Baxbys - Relocazion
Indie rock band The Baxbys is back with their latest bop “Relocazion.” On the subject, the band offers, “The song explores themes of moving on while being held back from inhibitions and internal doubts–‘fees on the bridge to the city’. Through moments of internal dialogue, the subject questions why they can’t seem to grow and seeks self-assurance.” The band was recently locked up in the studio cooking up new material.
