The Faves Playlist - Week of 2/23

New music from Ruby Lucinda, Olympiaa, Little Guilt and more. Check out our faves below:

Ziah Ziah - Muscle In

“Muscle In,” the latest single by UK artist Ziah Ziah explores the urge to push through. As she explains, “sometimes sinking into the chaos and darkness life can throw is necessary in order to come out the other side. I must always transform and evolve but I must always come home to my self, to my power, to the ugly and the beauty and the vulnerable.” Working with producer Geoffrey Papin, the track turns from a string/vocal arrangement underlining personal strength to a dark synth pop composition with a resilient Ziah lurking in its shadows.

The New Nostalgia - A Fridge In Berlin

It’s a familiar story: moving to the city to chase your dreams. On “A Fridge In Berlin,” UK post-punk band The New Nostalgia explores the other side of the coin. As vocalist Patrick McCallion explains, “It’s a song about the mental arithmetic you do when you decide to move away from home in pursuit of some sort of hipster utopia. I moved to Amsterdam in my early twenties but it could just as easily be about London, Berlin, LA, any of these places where you spend half your life at raves and art installations and the other in a miserable flat with a busted radiator.”

Pulse Park - Briars

The members of Pulse Park met during a trip to the Arctic. “Briars,” their new single, was the first song they wrote together. Originally written on ukeleles, the song is an explosive indie rock anthem. “Briars” is off their upcoming album First Second out on April 19. Pulse Park is playing some shows in Germany and France over the next few months.

Glimmer - Buried

On their new single “Buried,” grungegazers Glimmer seek escapism. “‘Buried’ is about being at your lowest point in life and wanting to escape from everything including yourself. It’s a figurative take on the only way to do that,” the band says. The band has some dates lined up, so check out their Instagram!
