Punchlove - Today You Can Learn the Secret
Brooklyn band Punchlove is back with their new single “Today You Can Learn the Secret.” The song is an example of the mind’s power to produce without our conscious effort. “This release is a surrealist, portal fantasy-inspired encounter with the unconscious mind,” explains band member Jillian Olesen. “This latest song started with just the title itself, and then Ian wrote all the instrumental parts. When it came time to write the lyrics, I had started leaving an open notebook next to my bed each night as a creative exercise in automatism I’d read about somewhere and basically started waking up to find all kinds of scribbles and chicken scratch all over the pages each morning.” Go see Punchlove on their spring tour:

Sextile - Kids
LA-based electronic duo Sextile has released their new single “Kids.” On the song, band member Melissa Scaduto says, "The song is about being a teenager where you start to figure out who you are and feel misunderstood by your family but the feeling you get of finding your people and music for the first time that is yours. Similar to myself feeling depressed at that age then sneaking out and going to raves and shows and realizing I was gonna be alive elsewhere and the future looked hopeful rather than bleak.” Their new album yes, please is out 5/2 via Sacred Bones.
Foliage - You Never Know
After making their festival debut at SXSW, California dream pop artist Foliage drops their new song “You Never Know.” The theme, a “delicate balance between romance, work, and artistry,” is featured above complex layers of 12-string guitars and synths. Could this be a sign of something more on the way?
French Film - Crude Charm
“‘Crude Charm’ for us was a turning-point song,” shares Austin shoegaze band French Film. “It came together the fastest and showed that we could blend the dissonance and aggression we had been doing with more poppy and abstract concepts.” The song is off the band’s debut EP Yours, which is available for pre-order on 10” vinyl and limited cassette through Bandcamp.
Deep Sky Objects - Stumbled
New York janglegaze trio Deep Sky Objects has dropped their first self-titled EP. On the opening track, they offer: ‘“Stumbled” is about the magical collision of two parallel spirits and the unknowable majesty of love.’ Pick up the cassette or go see the band play at one of their upcoming shows.
