The Mercadonnas - Animals

Irish indie rock band The Mercadonnas looks at the sensory overload caused by technology on their second single “Animals.” "We've had our concentration stolen, but worse, they made us do it to ourselves!" says frontman Jack O'Flaherty. “Animals” follows their debut single “Céad Míle Fáilte,” which is an exploration of Irish identity and a call for empathy in the nation.

The Links - sela

Lafayette, LA band The Links are back with their latest single “sela.” After releasing their 2023 debut album outside, the psych/punk/britpop band experienced a creative standstill. Band member Jack Morrison explains, “After outside, it felt like we may have hit some sort of plateau. I really wasn’t sure where we were going to go from there. Then i came up with this very simple but very addictive little electronic instrumental demo that ultimately became ‘sela,’ It was clear we were only at the start of something potentially even more exciting and, for lack of better phrase, ‘artistically fruitful.’” The band is planning to release the single on a 7” disc later this month.

Drug Store Raid - I Wanna Be A Hipster

Helsinki post-punk band Drug Store Raid is back with another single. On “I Wanna Be A Hipster,” they poke fun at the subculture singing, “A middle class kid from uptown/With the essence of a worker.” The track is off their upcoming album Background Music For Family Arguments, which is said to have been influenced by artists including Talking Heads, The Birthday Party, Swans, and Madonna. Background Music For Family Arguments is out 11/15 via Kieku Records.

“Noticing your own wandering eye. Exploring shame. Asking for a lot with little in return. Sharing a song with you. Non-monogamy. Fear of being seen. Thinking about someone else. FaceTime. Unemployment.” These are phrases provided by S.C.A.B. frontman Sean Camargo on the band’s new single “Caught My Eye.” The song is off their upcoming EP Rose Colored Glasses out on 10/25. The band will be going on tour in support of the release.
