Lollise - Simon Says

Brooklyn-based afro-futurist pop artist Lollise has released a deluxe version of her album I hit the water. The updated tracklist includes the new songs “Work” and “Moshe.” With the announcement of the new project, she has shared the music video for “Simon Says,” which was filmed by award-winning Motswana DP in Botswana. Lollise is performing as part of Secret Planet APAP Showcase at New York’s DROM on 1/11.

Chase Petra - Centrifugal Force

On “Centrifugal Force” Long Beach band Chase Petra asks the question: are we following a dream or falling into a pit? As vocalist Hunter Allen explains, “This song deals with what it means to be an adult who’s playing music and also has bills to pay,” Allen says. “I’ve wanted to do this my whole life, and I’ve never second-guessed that – but now my frontal lobe is fully developed, and I’m starting to wonder if this is really going to make me happy or if it’s going to tear me apart.” Chase Petra has announced a spring tour with Small Crush and Sorry Mom.

Cathedrale - The Setting Sun

French post-punk band Cathedrale is set to release their fifth album Poison. The first single “The Setting Sun” is inspired by Baudelaire's poem “Poison" from Les Fleurs du mal. The band says, “When we wrote ‘The Setting Sun,’ we already sensed that the album’s theme would revolve around poison. Gradually, we became more comfortable with this overarching idea and theme for the album. Naturally, we couldn’t miss the chance to adapt Baudelaire’s poem and make it our own.” Poison is out 2/14 via Howlin Banana and Regarts.

Impulsive Hearts - Fit 4 The Apocalypse

Chicago’s Impulsive Hearts has released a new video for their song “Fit 4 The Apocalypse” off the indie rock band’s 2024 album of the same name. The video was directed by frontwoman Danielle Sines. On the project, she said, "Filmed between Chicago and in the woods of northern Michigan, it was incredible to direct this psychedelic fever dream of a music video. My lifelong friend played the bunny and chased me around the woods for hours to get the right shot! It was so fun to bring the video to life and seeing the band's vision like this was so fun." Fit 4 The Apocalypse is out and can be purchased on Cotton Candy Sky or Ba-loo & bold teal limited edition vinyl via Bandcamp.

Lo - Over the Forest

Dream pop artist Lo has announced her new EP Over the Forest. On the title track, she reaches for a world beyond the one we can see. “Writing ‘Over the Forest’ was a self-soothing act,” Lo says. “I tried to create a realm that represented my belief that there was another world beyond the mist. It had to feel peaceful, yet eerie.” Over the Forest will be out early 2025.
