BEST OF 2024 Artist Picks: Dogwood
To celebrate the end of 2024 and recognize some of the best work of the year, we partnered up with a few of our favorite artists.
In our last edition, we’re joined by Atlanta project Dogwood. The indie band melds shoegaze, slowcore, alt-rock and more to create their own style. Dogwood released their latest single “DreamgirL,” which you can stream down below. Check out their favorite releases of the year!
W1sh - KHS
This is our personal favorite release of this year. The production is incredible for lofi slowcore x shoegaze and the simple yet addictive songwriting is amazing. This project sounds so beautiful yet haunting, such a range of raw emotions. To us it's like looking at a time capsule of your life and how you felt in those times. It is such an honest, heartbreaking, and vulnerable project. W1sh truly allows the listener to feel as if they personally know them and it places them inside his mind.
Fazerdaze - Soft Power
This sort of dark yet lovely feeling of mystery and ambience carries through the entire album. There’s ambient, dream pop mixed with fuzz pop–even a little grunge. The lyrics are so powerful and make you feel out of place on this record. We highly suggest you listen to this project. This is our pick of the best dream pop album this year.
/hospitality/ - And When I Close My Eyes I'm Still Spinning
/Hospitality/ has been making a crazy wave in the screamo atlanta scene. Their crazy fucking shows, amazing melodies, incredible energy and lyrics–no wonder why they make our list. This record is their debut LP and they deserve all the love.
The Hellp - LL
Just a perfect mix of electro pop and experimental music. This is officially The Hellp’s first LP. The production is actually insane. It is the best sounding album of the year–hell, it's our album of the year, in the dance/electronic world. It really transcends all of their past work and it's a whole new realm for them. If you haven't listened to this yet, you need to!
Indy Grab - Ain't That A Bite
Our buddies Indy Grab just released their debut EP Ain't That a Bite and we couldn't be more proud. This EP is some beautiful indie surf rock that mixes sounds from the 50's to now. It shows why they are one of the best indie bands in the Atlanta scene right now!
